Turtle Nesting Drives
After-dark drives on protected nesting beaches to watch loggerhead and leatherback turtles haul out — one of nature’s oldest rituals.
On summer nights, iSimangaliso’s beaches host something ancient: loggerhead and leatherback females hauling out to lay, on some of the most important nesting beaches in the western Indian Ocean. Licensed guides lead small groups along the tideline; from about January, hatchlings begin their sprint to the sea.
